For this project, the client hired anySCALE to design the new office for the People’s Daily News. The news editor of the prestigious periodical – sought to create an office space both flexible enough for team cooperation as well as one that represented the diversity and unpredictability of news media.
In developing this space, we wanted to shape an environment that had all the trappings of a modern office while still preserving traces of the news company’s print heritage; as a consequence, large LED screens were intentionally omitted. Furthermore, the cylindrical simple glass entrance – subtly reminding the viewer of a printing press – emptied out into the main common area with similarly curved furniture and walls, embodying the continuation of traditional concepts into the modern era.
Materials used include transparent glass, glass brick, atomized glass, BOLON woven carpet, dark grey steel plates, and light wood veneer. These combined along with the light grey color tones impart a strong sense of linearity and modernity.
