Designing for Living forms the second fundamental pillar of anySCALE’s practice and reflects the studio’s considered response to evolving lifestyles and markets.
While anySCALE has been deeply rooted in the corporate world since its inception, the studio approached private commissions with deliberate restraint in its early years. This was not only due to the sheer volume of corporate projects available from 2005 onward, but also because design for private living demands a different level of intimacy, trust, and long-term engagement—requiring both the right clients and a carefully attuned studio structure.
The opening of anySCALE’s studio in Palma de Mallorca marked a decisive moment. It created the conditions to build a dedicated team focused on private clients and the realization of highly personal spatial visions. What had previously been explored through selected private commissions for long-standing client relationships in China has since become a central component of the studio’s European practice.
Today, design for living plays a significant role in anySCALE’s development. The studio’s private projects primarily encompass the refurbishment of existing estates and historic residences, as well as the design of new villas in natural settings. Alongside interior design, these commissions increasingly engage architectural scope—allowing anySCALE to translate its spatial expertise across scales, from concept to built form.
