The pioneer of China’s bike-sharing industry, ofo’s new office space in Zhongguancun Beijing was designed by anySCALE. Deriving heavily from street and bike culture, the design elements stood out against the stark background. The minimalism of a basic cement floor was interrupted by yellow patterns and lines much like traffic markings on roads.
The key colors for the office were gray, black and white; yellow, the company color, was used generously. Yellow shelving, frames and tinted glass for various sections not only liven up the work areas but also represent the feisty spirit of the company.
Gray exposed ceilings created the perfect backdrop for the clustered arrangement of hexagonal tube lights, and a humanistic and harmonious aesthetic was achieved by balancing the urban elements with plants. The maverick design philosophy saw an exalted expression in the use of bikes and bike parts as installation art, the clear standout being the chandelier made of bike wheels in the lobby.
