MATSU Booth Design

Furniture and office-fitting brand MATSU hired anySCALE for the design of its Shanghai Design Fair. During the fair, MATSU received an award for the best booth design among manufacturers “2019 Design Shanghai”.

Launching their new table series called ‘Unit’ at the event, the client wanted the focus to stay on the new product line. The booth followed MATSU’s design language for its stores and corporate identity, the use of black walls, polycarbonate backlit walls, and furniture-display shelves.

The team created a space simulating an office with different set-ups particularly geared towards a co-working office.

The booth was designed to emphasize a large work bench for teams to work and collaborate at; other areas include a small lounge and a pantry/bar section for casual talk and catch-ups. Apart from the black walls, other colors included earthy tones to create a warmer environment.

Within the smaller footprint of a booth, the team created a space simulating an office with different set-ups particularly geared towards a coworking office, especially through a dynamic desk clump solution such as the ‘unit’. The booth was fitted with Nimbus’s sound-absorbing panels as well as bird wing-like installations hanging from the ceiling over the long table and making it stand out. Owing to the nature of the project, the team had to move fast and deliver the design as well as select materials within a week, and have the construction completed within another week or so.

Warm earthy tones complemented well with the black walls and the polycarbonate backlit walls.
